The Story Behind OH! Bakehouse

Some businesses start with a gap in the market. Ours started with a woman who believed food could be better.

OH! Bakehouse was founded by Rena Dagher — a Lebanese entrepreneur with a deep passion for food, ingredients, and the idea that eating clean should never feel like a compromise. Inspired by her mother's approach to wholesome, intentional living, Rena set out to build something Beirut didn't yet have: a bakery where gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free wasn't a limitation — it was the whole point.

Before Clean Eating Was a Trend, There Was OH!

OH! Bakehouse first opened in Achrafieh, Beirut in 2016 — when gluten-free and plant-based weren't lifestyle staples, they were hard to find. And even harder to find made well.

Rena had one rule: every product had to taste better than the original. Not just "good for a healthy option." Actually better. That meant grinding hazelnuts into flour for cookies with more depth. Browning almond flour brownies with no oil, no butter, just pure dark chocolate intensity. Building a seeded bread so satisfying it became part of people's daily rituals.

It worked. Word spread fast. The bakehouse on Monot Street became a destination.

We Left. We Came Back. We Meant It.

In 2020, like so much of Beirut, we had to close our doors. For nearly five years, OH! Bakehouse was quiet — but our community never forgot us. Customers kept asking when we'd return.

In 2024, we came back. Rebuilt and re-energized, with the same uncompromising standards and a bigger vision: to become Beirut's go-to destination for clean, honest, genuinely delicious food.

OH! Bakehouse is a 100% dedicated gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free kitchen. That means everything we make is safe for people living with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, dairy allergies and other food sensitivities — with zero cross-contamination, always.

But our customers aren't only people with dietary needs. They're people who care about what goes into their food. Parents who want better snacks for their kids. Athletes who want fuel without junk. Food lovers who simply refuse to accept that quality and clean eating are mutually exclusive.

Our pantry tells the whole story: organic power seeds, healthy grains, coconut oil, olive oil, organic coconut sugar, fruit purées, nut flours, tahini, dates. Real ingredients with real flavour. Most are certified organic, and we're working toward 100%. No hidden additives. No preservatives. No shortcuts.

That phrase isn't marketing. It's the standard every single product has to meet before it leaves our kitchen. If it doesn't taste extraordinary, it doesn't go on the shelf.
